However, unlike the previous day, we had solid cloud cover and no peak at the sunshine and blue skies we enjoyed the previous day. It was a relatively uneventful day, but towards evening, the winds started to pick back up and we furled in a bit of our genoa headsail for the night. The weather looks like it should be picking up over the next day or two as we make our way into the Straight of Juan de Fuca, so it may be an uncomfortable finish to the sail, but hopefully we will make good time. We are just biding our time now, waiting and so ready to get in and make landfall. As we near the end of our third very long passage in the space of a few months, it’s hard to believe how much time we’ve spent at sea this year. It feels like it should still be springtime or something, like the last several months have just dissappeared, it’s hard to believe that it’s almost August! It certainly will feel good to complete this passage and start working to get back on track with our original sailing plans and route, after these long detours. Cheers, Hillary & Ty
